The Samsung BX2440 Monitor is a good and cheap alternative. However, the factory settings for color calibration are way too cold.
After calibrating the monitor with a professional color calibration tool it looks much better.
The monitors may vary a bit from each other but i recommend this setting for Gamma mode 1:
Ooooh. On my BX2440, that makes everything pink. In fact, I have to lower my red while leaving blue and green at 50. But, I’m still trying different things.
